In the Toubkal Massif region of the High Atlas of North Africa, where Berber villages, arranged in terraces, perpetuate a way of living that goes back thousands of years, Jaqueline Brandt, has undertaken the restoration of a ‘Douar’, the traditional house of the Berber people. The Kasbah Samra, open since November of 2004, has been ready to receive visitors in one of these villages so close to the Atlas Mountains.

A strategic location.

The ancient trails of caravanserai of gold, salt and slaves, which once crossed the Moroccan Sahara and High Atlas Mountains to the Mediterranean coast, these days are criss-crossed by travellers and trekkers alike.
